Chapter 5

Vivienne was exhilarated over the sexual experience with Jacob. When she went home the next morning to get ready for work, she was walking on clouds. Despite the intensity of the scene, she hadn’t used her safe word, nor had the emotion overwhelmed her.

While she showered and dressed, Jacob filled her thoughts. She could still feel his deep kiss while she had been blindfolded. With her tied down and unable to see, his hot mouth had lit a fire under her skin. Since her eyes had been covered, her sense of touch had magnified, making the kiss more sensual.

Her pulse had quickened when Jacob had begun dripping the hot wax. Each drip had been needle sharp, a burn that then dissipated. Yet the more he had dripped, the more the pain seemed to escalate. Vivienne recalled being on the edge, with the bite of pain unrelenting. It had been almost too much, but bearable.

Vivienne had discovered that she liked the tinge of pain, which was more like sharp pleasure. But enduring it required skill. She’d learned to tolerate it, and had increased her pain threshold. Jacob had schooled her in how to take it in, let it flow through her, and not fight the sensation.

There was something about submitting to Jacob, allowing him to administer the delicious pain, which gave her a high. The swell of her heart over being in love combined with the lure of submission was potent. Plus, Jacob had been so proud of her.

She had no idea it could be like that. If only Vivienne had known what was possible, she would have reached for it sooner. But it had taken Jacob to show her the way. In the beginning, entering his forbidden lifestyle had been frightening, but tempting. Now that she had let his world fully engulf her, it was addictive.

That was another thing: Jacob seemed different too. He didn’t tell her what was going through his mind, or what emotions he wrestled with. But Vivienne knew him, and the way he talked to her, touched her, had unforeseen sensitivity. He surprised her, not only with his sexual talents, but with his heart.

Maybe he felt more than he said. Vivienne couldn’t be certain, and it was unwise to press the point. If the wall around his heart had cracked at all, it was prudent to allow him space to deal with it. Whatever had changed, she would find out soon enough.

Before she left for Vee’s, she grabbed her phone, tempted to call Jacob. But Vivienne resisted. She’d wait for him to make the next move, which was fine with her. Now that she’d said the words I love you, she didn’t have to hide her feelings. Nor was she overwhelmed by them, as evidenced by the hot playroom interlude. Jacob had to be as affected as she was, so it was best to let him acclimate without undue pressure.

As soon as she arrived at the shop, Vivienne had a conference call with Alfred. She spoke to him more often now that Sensual Scents was open for business.
